Welcome to our website. If you are looking for a church home, we would be delighted for you to come and worship with us on Sunday mornings at 10:00a.m. We believe you will find us to be warm, friendly, accepting congregation. The United Methodist Church is very diverse, offering many styles of worship from contemporary to traditional. Here at the Richmond United Methodist Church, we offer a relaxed, but traditional worship experience. Our beautiful Sanctuary seats around 400 worshippers. Stained glass windows adorn either side of the Sanctuary depicting scenes from the life of Christ – from the annunciation to the crucifixion. The magnificent large “Resurrection window” towers above the chancel area. The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is available to people of all ages. We have an “open communion table,” where those who intend to lead a life following the commandment of Christ – to love God, and love your neighbor – are welcome to join us at the table. We believe worship is the starting point for all of our ministries.
Some of the activities and ministries we support and provide are: excellent children and youth programs, (our Nursery is warm, safe, friendly, well-equipped, and staffed). We offer two adult Sunday School classes, numerous fellowship meals and events, a chancel choir, a bell choir, and a children’s bell choir, United Methodist Women’s ministries, Vacation Bible School, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops (including Cub Scouts and Brownies), a community garden, hospital and nursing home visitation, pastoral counseling, volunteer support for community activities, and a local, national, and work missions. We host community blood drives, support global health programs such as “Nothing but Nets”, for the prevention of the spread of malaria. We provide space for meeting of non-profit organizations. We encourage recycling and support environmental earth care by providing bins to collect newspaper and magazines. We have landscaped our campus with an abundance of flowers, shrubs, evergreens and shade and ornamental trees. We support our college students by sending “care packages’ during final week. We provide financial and volunteer help to the Salvation Army, and have an “emergency fund” set aside to help people in need. We cooperate with other churches in our area through the ministries of the local Ministerial Alliance. We participate in numerous ecumenical worship events.
Our theme is “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors,” and our goal is to spread the good news of God’s love and grace in Jesus Christ, through study, worship, prayer, praise, and service.
Come see for yourself. Our doors are open to you and your family.
